If you visit with us, there are many things about our worship of God that may be different from other churches you’ve attended. For example, we sing praises to God with the instruments of our hearts and voices (Eph. 5:19). We partake of the Lord’s Supper, unleavened bread and fruit of the vine, every Lord’s day as instructed in scripture (1 Cor. 11:23-26). Our prayers are unscripted, from the heart, and pertain to specific matters with the church. They are not meaningless repetitions, which our Lord rejects (Mt. 6:5-8). Our sermons are not motivational speeches, but are both edifying and admonishing in their presentation of God’s Word. We base our lessons in scripture and apply these lessons to our lives today, just as we find so many of the gospel preachers of the New Testament had done. We have a collection each Lord’s day which is the responsibility of our members, not of visitors. Our funds are used only for the purposes which we find examples for in God’s Word (1 Cor. 16:1,2). Therefore you will not find us building gymnasiums, offering sports leagues, or building coffee shops.
The Lord’s Church began at Gadsden as just a few small families, but has quickly blossomed into many families. Our country location is a blessing in that we are able to be a gathering place for the Lord’s people from a number of communities all across Boone County. You will find different studies available for all age groups and nearly all interests in the scriptures. We are also blessed to have a number of men in the church who are able to preach the Word at a moments notice. Because of this capability we do not have a full time preacher, but are blessed to hear God’s word proclaimed from a number of different people and personalities from week to week. We dearly hope that if you are in the area and looking for a place to worship the Lord, you consider us.
